Natural Food Types for Constipation Relief

Constipation is  a condition which affects people of all age groups including kids, young people to elderly population.  The risk factors for constipation can vary depending on the age or many times on the physical condition.  For example elderly people are more likely to suffer from various diseases including constipation and similarly pregnant ladies are more like to suffer from constipation because of the problems which are created due to pregnancy.

Apart from the physical condition, sometimes bad habits can creep in which can also cause constipation.  For example lack of proper chewing, particularly in kids causes the food not to be broken down properly due to which it can cause indigestion and constipation.

When we talk about constipation relief, usually we talk about laxatives.  However many people prefer to avoid laxatives as much as possible.  Fortunately for them, there are many natural remedies for constipation that exists and they are part of our foods.  We can broadly divide these foods into three categories in which they exist.  The benefit of trying to control constipation with food is this seems to be the more natural way to tackle the problem as well as provides other health benefits also since we start taking more healthier food.  Let us try to learn what are these categories of foods.

1. Various Fruits – We all know that fibers are beneficial for constipation relief, however many people do not know that taking too much fiber can have its side effects.  Fruits provide natural fibers and they are also source of other nutrients required by our bodies.  Try to include fruits like papaya, apples, guava and figs in your diet.  These will provide enough fiber which is not harmful and ease out constipation easily. Fruits also nourish our bodies and help us keep healthy.

2. Juices – There are juices from various fruits which are really helpful in curing constipation.  Juice directly reach the blood and also have faster effects.  One of the most effective juice for constipation is prune juice.  Other juices which are effective in constipation include apple, grapes and orange juices.  Juice are particularly useful  in constipation remedies for toddlers since they can be given easily to them and they find it easy to drink rather than eat.  Juices also fulfill the fluid need  in babies.

If you are suffering from diabetes this option may not be suitable since it can increase the blood sugar levels due to presence of natural sugar in juices.

3. Natural Oils -Many oils which are produced from various seeds or other animals are also useful for constipation.  For example castor oil, fish oil and olive oils act as stimulants and cause bowel movements.  Intestinal linings are made sommoth by the oils and make it easier to eliminate.  This can be taken by both babies and elderly  though babies may not like it too much and less quantity should be used for babies.  To make it more palatable oils can be given added in some juice to make it easier to drink.

The above categories of foods become more effective if food is chewed properly and lots of water is consumed on day to day basis.  Try the above foods stop the discomfort of constipation and many other diseases easily.
