Women and Hair Loss – Facing the Fallout

Filed under: Beauty — martin @ 8:43 pm

Going bald is a big deal no matter who you are, male or female, old or young. The good thing about being a balding guy is that it is not as big a deal as it is for a woman. No doubt, many men are devastated by their receding hair lines and expanding bald spots (thus the ridiculous comb overs and fool-no-one toupees), but separating a woman from her hair, well, that’s just criminal. Unfortunately, it’s all too natural — talking only about American women, more than 30 million of them are losing hair to some degree. While guys can take a razor to their scalps and shave off the evidence of hair loss, women can’t really, even if they wanted to, without people mistaking them for cancer patients. It’s simply not a viable option; what women want is their hair back in all its glory.

A hair regrowth topical specifically formulated for women who experience thinning and signs of baldness on the crown (vertex) and frontal areas of the scalp. Hair loss in women has not been well…

Balding begins when something interrupts our natural growth cycle and causes hair to fall out at a faster rate than the hair grows back. Quite often hormones are at fault. DHT, which is dihydrotestosterone, is a main culprit for men and women genetically predisposed to be sensitive to it. If it builds up on the scalp it can start to smother follicles and reduce their ability to produce healthy hair. Over time, it can kill the follicle so it can no longer make any hair at all. Different hormones are to blame when a woman begins to lose her hair during pregnancy or after she has given birth. Other possible causes include trauma, high stress, certain types of medication, over-processing hair, styling it too tightly, poor nutrition and some serious health conditions.

So when hair loss happens the first step is to see your doctor. You want to make sure nothing serious, such as diabetes, thyroid disease or lupus, to name a few, are the cause. With those hopefully eliminated, your doc may recommend the over the counter hair growth product minoxidil, a topical therapy, or perhaps a high dose of biotin, a member of the B vitamin family, if you want to try a natural approach. Another natural helper is an apple cider vinegar hair treatment on the scalp, along with taking it internally as well.

What You Must Know About Anti Cellulite Cream Products

Filed under: Beauty — martin @ 6:19 pm

Most of the anti cellulite cream products in the market today claim to give you perfect-looking skin. However, to what extent should you believe the advertisements they keep on posting in magazines and running on televisions? Are their claims really valid or are their claims just marketing techniques to get their company more sales?

Visibly reduces the appearance of cellulite. What is Cellulite?Cellulite results from an excess storage…

Anti cellulite creams in the market mostly work the same way. They contain L-Carnitine, a natural ingredient that helps the skin fight cellulite. However, no matter how greatly these creams are advertised on how to get rid of cellulite, they do not give out the results you want overnight. In most cases, creams will work for you after four weeks of continuous usage. Though this is not told to you by manufacturers, it is often true that you will begin to see changes in your cellulite only after four weeks of daily application. Plus, this means that you have to apply the cream on the cellulite twice a day.

Moreover, what you may not know about creams is that before you can see full results, you need to continuously use them for six full months. This means that you need to apply the creams twice a day in a total of six months before you can really say that your skin is back to perfect condition. But who cares? The creams can really work to help you get rid of cellulite. Though the process can be long, at least there is an assurance that your money will not become a total waste when you invest on creams.

However, there is still a catch here that you must know. Most of the creams will not offer you permanent solution to your cellulite problem. Believe it or not, after six months of usage, though you can see good results, the cellulite can grow back in the event you stop using the creams. This only implies that if you don’t want to see cellulites ever again, you must apply these creams over and over again twice a day in the course of your lifetime.

For us all, as individuals, one of the first signs that our diet is not as good as it should be, is the way we look, our appearance betrays the fact. Skin might lose its glow and hair and nails might become brittle, signs that show that we are missing out of some vital nutrients. When this happens, it might be the time to consider a modification to the existing diet, perhaps the addition of specific vitamins that might help contribute to our general well-being and in particular to the natural strength and beauty of hair and nails.

In addition to the right food items in the right amounts, a multi-vitamin supplement could help if there is a possibility of not getting them from the existing regularl daily diet. The main thing is to incorporate food items that can promote the growth of healthy hair and maintain its shine and strength.

Vitamins
Vitamins for hair growth can help. Probably one of the best and most important dietary supplements for hair is the vitamin B2, also known as a riboflavin. Vitamin B2 is important for many of the essential functions of the body but in particular it stimulates cell respiration and growth as well adding to the effectiveness of vitamin B6, another vitamin for good health and appearance. Other important B vitamins for hair growth and hair health are pantothenic acid, pyridoxine, biotin, folic acid (B9), and vitamin B12.

It is also important to mention vitamin E, in addition to being a powerful antioxidant, also helps to stimulate the blood circulation and immune system. A healthy immune system directly influences the growth of hair.

To ensure that all daily needs are met, a quality multi-vitamin/mineral supplement might be appropriate in the maintenance of good hair and good health.

Teaching Boys About Ladies Perfume

Every Mother’s Day the same thing happens: Boys across the country buy the largest, cheapest bottle of ladies perfume that they can find, expectant that their mothers will not only use it, but also love it. Unfortunately, there was a very good reason that the perfume was so cheap: It reeks. Obviously, mothers need to educate their sons on the differences between good and bad perfumes.

If her son is young enough, this education can be fun. One afternoon the mother takes her young son and they start sniffing through her collection of perfumes, and even his father’s colognes, learning the difference between the various scents, and the difference between perfumes and colognes. Just emphasizing the difference in use between the two should be enough to put him off trying them himself for a few years, especially when he realizes that they are used to attract the opposite sex. That realization alone should make life a little bit easier during gifting times—all that he needs be told is that the cheaper perfumes do not smell as good, and that the smaller bottles of perfume are actually better. That should make life more bearable.

Describing where ladies perfume comes from, the musk glands of certain animals as well as some synthetic smells, will definitely interest him, given little boys interest in weird things and test tubes. If possible, do a mother should do some homework on the history of perfumes, and should definitely be able to describe something labeled “eau de toilette”, which is merely a more dilute, usually flower-based perfume used more for refreshing one’s skin after a bath or shower. He will no doubt focus in on the name and giggle, but emphasize that it is the name of the room, not the activity, and you should be fine.

This education should take no more than a half-hour, and can be done on a mall trip. In fact, most cosmetics salespeople may even help you in doing so; an educated buyer is also one that will buy and buy often, if not now then years down the road. An early education is the best way to create a new customer. Of course, you may want to show him not only your favorite perfumes, but a good substitute or two. When it comes to your perfume and cologne, you do not want to wear something you do not like, and this is the best way to avoid gifts based good intentions.

Tips For The Prevention Of Nail Fungus

Nail fungus infections affect many thousands of people every year.  The infection is not life threatening but can result in loss of quality of life and impaired movement in advanced cases.  The infection will also not clear up on its own so you should begin treatment with antifungal nail lacquers such as Zetaclear, Loceryl, Funginix or Penlac as soon as possible.  No one wants yellow, ugly, distorted nails so your best bet is to avoid contracting an infection in the first place.  In this article we set out several tips to help your nails stay fungus free:

  • Keep your nails clean and dry at all times.  It’s a good idea to expose your feet to sunlight at least once a day and keep them well ventilated.  Fungal infections take hold in dark, damp airless conditions (which is why toenail infections are far more common than fingernail infections) so try and avoid these.
  • The same dermatophytic fungus that causes Athlete’s foot also causes nail fungus infections.  Cross-infections are very common so treat your Athlete’s foot as soon as possible.  It’s far easier and faster to treat than nail fungus.
  • Only use a manicurist or pedicurist who uses thoroughly sterilized nail instruments.  Its a good idea to bring your own equipment.
  • Public showers and changing rooms are top of the list of places where you can pick up a nail fungus infection.  Never walk around barefoot in these environments.  To be completely sure, wear rubber foot slippers that cover the entire foot.  But don’t forget to clean and thoroughly dry your sweaty feet after exercise when you are in a safe environment.
  • Remove sweaty shoes and tight footwear as soon as possible and try and alternate your shoes.  Try and wear open toed shoes or sandals as often as possible.
  • Take care not to injure your nails, cut them back too far or damage the skin surrounding them.  Fungal infections often take hold on nails that have been damaged.

How to Prevent Oily Skin

Having extremely oily skin will lower a person’s self esteem, especially if that person is a teenager. The excess oil on your skin can sometimes cause skin abnormalities like blackheads, pimples, and acne. Most of the time, oily skin is the main reason for all you other skin abnormalities as well. Sometimes oily skin runs in your family, so sometimes it can be caused by genetics. Other causes are lack of water in your body, pregnancy, and makeup that is not good for your skin.

The most common reason for oily skin is the imbalance of hormones in your body, this imbalance usually occurs during puberty. That is why teenagers tend to have acne, pimples, blackheads, and many other skin blemishes. Even though oily skin is considered unhealthy, some people view oily skin as a good thing. They view oily skin as a good thing because; oily skin does not age as fast, compared to regular skin.

The best thing to do is to regularly wash your face of the oil, and prevent the oil from clogging your pores. To do this you will need to use a specialized soap to get rid of the oil on your face. Try to avoid soaps that have chemicals in them, most of the time these chemicals only irritate the skin. Look for natural alternatives if you can. Although, if your dermatologist says that said chemicals are fine, then you can use those chemicals on your skin. But still, try to use all natural products and homemade remedies as much as possible, these things will not harm your skin in any way.

Here are some tips for you, to prevent or get rid of oily skin:

1. Use a moisturizer that does not have any oil inside it, the oil from some moisturizers will only irritate your skin.

2. Wash your face regularly. If you wash your face at least two times a day, the chances of you getting oily skin will decrease.

3. Use medicines for your skin, which will not irritate it.

4. Drink a lot of water. Keeping yourself well hydrated will help in eliminating the oil on your skin. It will also help prevent future oil build-ups on your skin.

5. Reduce your intake of foods that are rich in salt and sugar. Foods that are rich in salt and sugar make a big contribution to the amount of oil secreted by your glands.

6.  Eat fresh fruits and vegetables.

Give these 6 things a go and see how big of a difference it makes.

Are Wrinkle Creams Really Worthwhile?

We see so many advertisements about wrinkle cream and how it makes your wrinkles “disappear”. Maybe you’ve even tried some and they did nothing that was claimed. Do wrinkle creams really work or are they just a waste of money?

There are no wrinkle creams out there that can make a very wrinkled 70 year old face look like a 20 year old face. That is just the truth of the matter. However, some skin can be improved, depending on where it comes from. If you have a bunch of wrinkles and you do nothing to help them, some wrinkle cream might be of benefit to you.

For example, if you are 45 years old, have a few wrinkles around your face, don’t use any kind of skin products, and have a poor diet and lifestyle, a good, moisturizing cream with retinol or Q10 might help. Skin that is already dry will look a lot better just by moisturizing. Even deep wrinkles can be reduced. A medicated cream might help further, as well. On the other hand, if you have a great diet, drink lots of water and exercise, use a SPF moisturizer every morning and night cream, adding a new moisturizer might not do quite as much because your skin is in good shape.

Does this mean there is no hope for you? The truth is, if you’ve been following a healthy lifestyle and skincare regimen your whole life, you probably have pretty great skin to begin with. If not, it’s never too late to stop. If you can’t reverse signs of aging, you can at least stop them from getting worse faster. Drink lots of water and use a moisturizer to keep your skin hydrated. This is important for good skin. Also, block the sun whenever possible. Use an SPF 15 moisturizer everyday and stay in the shade whenever possible. Prevention is the best medicine for wrinkles and aging.

How to Hang on to the Hair That You Have Left

Only use you notice that your hair has been thinning and you are not happy about it. There is more hair on the floor and more comes out when you brush it than there used to be. Now is the time to do something about it before it gets way out of hand. You should be able to keep your hair instead of losing it.

The first thing you need to do is take a survey of your life. What are you putting into your body? What kind of food you eat? What kind of water you drink? Are you getting any exercise? If you answer any of these questions with anything less than fruits and vegetables and lean proteins, filtered water and lots of exercise, then you need to change. Incorporating all of these things will make a difference in your life. It may even prolong it.

The other thing to consider is what you’re doing to your hair. Are you tugging on it too hard? Do you brush it too hard? Are your styling products and appliances drying your hair out? If you are too harsh on your hair, then you need to have a gentle touch. Also you should stop using all styling products and appliances until your hair gets back to normal. This will not happen overnight. You have to be patient because it may take up to six months before you see any results. It will be well worth it if you save your hair.

There are a lot of factors that cause you to lose your hair. You want to do everything you can possible to keep your hair. It may require you to become extremely disciplined, but it will be worth it because you will have regained what you’ve lost, your lovely hair.

How to Have Healthy Hair

Shiny, bouncy, healthy hair is what every woman wants to have. Unfortunately, not everyone is born with such good genes. There are ladies with sleek, straight hair while there are others with unruly curls.  Then there are those with dull and limp hair who look to buy the latest best selling hair straightener. You can have that beautiful hair you have always wanted if you just follow these simple tips for hair care:

Eat healthy and take some vitamins. Technically, your hair is made up of keratin just like your fingernails. Keratin is a type of protein that is composed of amino acids and is produced in your body; and although the cells within your hair are already dead, it is still connected to hair follicles. These hair follicles are attached to sebaceous glands that produce oil and make the hair shiny. Anyway, to be able to maintain a healthy hair, you must eat foods that are rich in vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin B, and vitamin D. You must also intake vitamins and supplements. If your body is healthy, your hair will also be healthy.

Massage your scalp. This hair care advice is usually neglected. People think that massaging the scalp does nothing for the hair; when in reality, this helps in making hair thicker, stronger, and fast-growing. If you massage your scalp in a circular manner, you will stimulate its blood supply. You will also be relieved from stress, so your hair will look better. You can massage your scalp using virgin coconut oil, or you can massage it while shampooing.

Keep your hair clean. Well, this hair care tip is very obvious. Of course, you must shampoo regularly. However, you must not overdo it. If you shampoo too often, your hair will be dry.

Have your hair trimmed. The ends of your hair are the driest and the oldest. Therefore, they are very prone to split ends. So, if you want your hair to grow longer and better, you have to visit the salon once every two months.

Things You Can Do About Oily Hair

You have oily hair. No matter what you do, your hair ends up looking greasy. It seems like a constant battle and it’s one you are always losing. Instead of fighting against your oily hair, if you start to work with it you may end up with the results you desire: soft and clean looking hair.

People with thin, fine hair are the most susceptible to oily hair problems, particularly if the hair is straight. Curly hair tends to hide oil problems much better than straight hair. If you’re one of the unlucky few, you may already be doing the minimum to combat this issue, such as avoiding greasy styling products. But what else can you do?

First, you may want to eliminate conditioner from your routine. Hair product marketers seem to have everybody convinced that they need both shampoo and conditioner but the truth is that only those with dry hair need to follow up with a conditioner. Conditioner tends to coat the hair with oil, which is the last thing you need. Try skipping the conditioner and see if it makes a difference for you.

Choose a shampoo for oily hair that is specifically labeled as being designed for oily hair types. You could also look for one that is labeled “clarifying” as these are great at washing out built up products in the hair. A good rule of thumb is the clearer the shampoo, the less it will contribute to oil problems. Be sure to leave the shampoo on for at least five minutes so it can loosen up the oil. Apply shampoo as soon as you get in the shower and let it sit there while you wash the rest of your body before rinsing it all off.

You should also think about washing your hair twice a day, particularly when the weather is hotter. If that isn’t feasible, you might want to consider using a hair powder to help absorb the grease. Check out the Dry Shampoo Guide to learn more about how you can use simple products like cornstarch to absorb some of the oil in your hair and make your hair look less slick.

Oily hair is not fun to deal with but if you follow this advice, you should definitely notice less oil in your hair. You only need to tweak your routine slightly and make wise product choices to end up with a big improvement in the way your hair looks.
