Be Wary Of Diet Pill Scams

The problem with diet pills is that often you simply don’t know what’s in them.  This is especially true if you are purchasing from the internet and the pills are imported.  We all know how massive the weight loss industry is and how companies are really eager to cash in.

This has led to many really awful products being sold to those who want to lose weight.  In 2008 the FDA warned against 28 different diet pills which contain undisclosed ingredients.  Basically, many of these companies are telling you that their products work via natural herbs, however they’re actually adding in other ingredients that can be pretty harsh.

For instance, a Japanese diet pill called 2 Day Diet was found to contain subutramine.  This ingredient is actually similar to amphetamines and are linked with all sorts of nasty side-effects such as strokes and heart attacks.  There have even been deaths reported.

What’s even more scary is that you can still buy 2 Day Diet very easily on the internet.  You can even buy it from Amazon if you so wish.

Then of course, there’s the ever popular diet pills that contain hoodia, a type of cactus that’s well-known for it’s appetite suppressing abilities.  The problem is that the vast majority of hoodia pills on the market are simply fake.  Either they only contain very small amounts of hoodia, contain the wrong parts of the plant or don’t contain any hoodia at all.

Hoodia isn’t a cheap product to buy so if you see any pills selling for considerably less that you would expect, then there is a chance that it’s fake.  Also be wary of companies who are offering free trial diet pills because often you end up being auto-billed.

Auto billing is where a company will send you out products every month and charge it to your credit card.  You might have thought you were handing over your credit card details to pay for the shipping.  However they only ask for your credit card so that they can auto-bill you.
